Meet YMCA Volunteer: Kellen S.

If you visit the Missoula Family YMCA, you'll likely find volunteer Kellen Spracjar fixing potholes, painting walls, and lending a hand in ways that make our Y a little nicer for everyone! A retired army vet, Kellen wanted to give back to the community and the Y felt like the perfect fit.

"I love volunteering with the YMCA," said Kellen. "Volunteering gives me a sense of purpose, and the Y's community has become a family to me."

Kellen's first experience volunteering with the Y was at its annual Riverbank Run event. He dove into the job by hauling tables, unloading boxes, and setting up the race's finish line. After the Riverbank Run wrapped up, he started volunteering with the Y's facility department.

"I help JT and Jerry, who make up the Y's maintenance team. They're great," said Kellen. "It's hard, tough work, and it feels good to complete tasks."

When he's not volunteering, Kellen is an accomplished musician and audio engineer who plays guitar, bass, and drums.

"I play a little rock n' roll, as well as folk music. Sometimes I attempt to sing," he added with a laugh.

Kellen has played an incredible role here at our Y over the past four months and he says his volunteer journey is just getting started. "Volunteering with the Y has been a great experience," said Kellen. "I look forward to continuing to contribute to the Y."

Thank you for being a part of our Y community!
